To operate in China foreign companies must obey Chinese laws, including laws regarding freedom of expression.
Sergey Brin acknowledged that Google had compromised its principles by bowing to Chinese authority on censorship issues.
Within China, the only Google option is Google.cn, or as it is known there, “Guge.”
Threy’re not the only ones. Yahoo, MSN ,Cisco also seem happy to work with repressive regimes.
Chinese censors routinely block out content related to democracy, free speech, Tiananmen Square, and other topics that are charged politically.
It seems censoring internet search ,providing security systems and even handing over information used to imprison Chinese citizens who speak out against the Chinese government are ok in the pursuit of even greater profits.
How much money do these companies need ?
